Glynn and Susan Hogan have been researching their own family histories for over 25 years in various parts of the United Kingdom. They have a good knowledge of research methods and the wide variety of information and records available to the genealogist, gaining knowledge from membership of Local Family History Societies.

Initially, research required visiting the actual areas in order to view locally held records; although this was not always convenient, actually visiting an area and perhaps locating a church or house with a direct link to ancestors added an extra dimension to the research.

In recent years, a wide variety of records have become more readily accessible. New technology means that we can now research many aspects of our genealogy from the comfort of our own homes hundreds or thousands of miles away from where our family originated. This means that many people are able to build up a detailed family history without ever having visited any of the places mentioned in their research. Many people, for a variety of reasons, are not able to visit places from their past but would like to be able to picture where their ancestors lived their lives.

Glynn’s interest in photography has developed over many years, especially since the introduction of digital photography, which now enables photographs to be displayed and electronically transferred and then enlarged to a variety of sizes. Glynn and Susan have been providing helpful research and photographs for friends as well as their own family for some time but it is only now that they have taken early retirement from teaching that they have the time and commitment to offer this service as a commercial enterprise.

And so Family History Photos has been established.
